The fridge is across from the stove. He opens it, revealing an almost barren interior except for two items:

William grabs CannaBracula and places it on his old yellow Formica counter top next to the stove. He opens the cabinet above, and pushes to the side his Weight Mate meal replacement powder and pulls down from the top shelf an old 1980s Transformers lunch pail with Optimus Prime on the lid. Opening it, he found various small, colored medical cannabis containers. Some of which are: Sour Diesel, Blue Dream, Motherโ€™s Finest, Jack Herer, Durban Poison, and Strawberry Cough Sativas. Also present, are containers labeled Skywalker OG, White Widow, Blueberry, Purple Rain, Master, Northern Lights, Godโ€™s Gift and Banana Indicas. Additionally, there is one red mini BIC lighter and a small, black, charcoal-filtered device called a Smoke Buddy.

He pulls into a dark alley laced with broken glass, reeking dumpsters, and the stench of human waste left behind by drunks and addicts.

Decorating both sides of the alley are cars and trucks, some jammed against the curb, others barely within the lines. William gets lucky this time: no one's blocking his garage. He stops the car, unlocks the old wooden door, and lifts it with a creak. As he walks back to the driverโ€™s seat to pull in, a voice echoes from somewhere nearby.

โ€œSorry, maโ€™am, I didnโ€™t mean to mess up your books. Iโ€™ll put them back.โ€

Inside, the bookstoreโ€™s walls and ceiling were laced with intricate patterns that resembled the roots of an ancient, enchanted tree. Soft amber light filtered through hidden lamps, casting shadows that seemed to shift and dance on their own. The air carried the scent of old paper, warm cedarwood, and something sweeter, a hint of pipe tobacco, as though the ghosts of authors past still lingered between the shelves. From somewhere deep within, a faint phonograph tune played: scratchy jazz that ebbed and flowed like a memory, mingling with the soft rustle of unseen pages turning themselves.

What is Alchemy?

Alchemy is an ancient philosophical and proto-scientific tradition that flourished from antiquity through the early modern period, primarily concerned with the transmutation of matter, the pursuit of immortality, and the perfection of nature.

After passing a few shops, the red-bricked walkway veered right and ended at three steps leading to a solid green wooden door.

The buildingโ€™s exterior blended earthy tones of green, brown, and silver. Artificial molding shaped like twisting tree roots ran down the sides, with the center resembling a massive tree trunk. Perched at the top was a small tree house adorned with carved wooden owls, squirrels, birds, cats, and turtles. Hanging just above the entrance door, beneath the tree house, was a sign that read: Magic Door.

What are the Hermetic Principles?

The Hermetic Principles are a set of seven philosophical axioms, considered to be universal laws, that form the foundation of Hermeticism. This esoteric tradition is attributed to the teachings of Hermes Trismegistus, a syncretic figure combining the Greek god Hermes and the Egyptian god Thoth. The principles were most famously compiled and popularized in the 1908 book The Kybalion, authored by the "Three Initiates."
